CALL TO ARTISTS: ArtWalk/Nelson International Mural Festival
Call for Artists: ArtWalk 2018 and Nelson International Mural Festival
The Nelson and District Arts Council (NDAC) is excited to announce two applications that are now open to visual artists in the area.
First off, we have ArtWalk, our flagship event, which is 30 years old this year! I know we don’t look a day over 25, but it’s true. NDAC is proud to be hosting an event that has been instrumental in supporting local artists for three incredible decades. We are thrilled to increase our programming in celebration of this milestone: this year there will be two fabulous openings! Our first gala event is on Friday June 29th at the ArtWalk venues throughout Nelson and another on Friday July 27th during the West Kootenay EcoSociety’s MarketFest where ArtWalk will be host the Stanley Street stage.
We are seeking visual artists and business owners who wants to be involved in this staple of Kootenay Culture. Applications are now available online and close on Friday, April 20th at 5pm.
NDAC is also presenting the first annual Nelson International Mural Festival in collaboration with the City of Nelson. Through the festival, NDAC seeks to increase the cultural vibrancy of Nelson by engaging local, national and international street artists, muralists, creators and arts lovers through the creation of up to 10 large scale public artworks and educational opportunities. NDAC desires to shine a light on local cultures and histories, encouraging collaboration and community building. The festival is an inclusive event intended for all cultures, genders, ages and abilities. Artist and Building Owner applications are currently available on our website and close on Friday, March 23rd at 5pm.
